Adam's story is proof that passion has no limits—turning his love for music into a thriving DJ career while mentoring young talent and giving back to his community.

Adam’s Journey: From Youth Mentor to DJ

Adam has always loved music and working with young people. He started his career as a youth mentor, supporting young people in Nowra through government programs. At 24, he was diagnosed with two extremely rare neurological conditions—Spinocerebellar Ataxia (Type 4) and Tubb4a Leukodystrophy. He is one of only four people in Australia with this diagnosis and one of just 100 worldwide. These conditions affected his movement and speech, and he now uses a wheelchair. But Adam never let that stop him.

Performing as DJ Psylent Bob, Adam has been building a name for himself in the music scene. With a Certificate IV in Youth Work and years of mentoring experience, he found a new way to connect with people—through DJing. Working with Castle and community partners like RYSS and Fairhaven, he began performing at their Christmas parties, which opened doors to even more opportunities. Now, he’s working towards a regular spot in their event lineups.

Adam also DJs at Enables events at the Sunken Monkey, bi-monthly gatherings for people with disability, and at Waves events at the Central Coast Leagues Club every three months. These performances allow him to share his love for music and create inclusive spaces where everyone feels welcome.

Teaching the Next Generation

Adam isn’t just performing—he’s preparing to teach. His long-term goal is to help mentor and inspire the next generation of DJs.

“Beyond performing, I'm excited to start teaching DJ skills to young people at several youth centres across the Central Coast and Hunter Region,”
Adam, on his plans for the future.

His Coordinator of Support, Lisa, is one of his biggest supporters.

“I am so proud of Adam’s determination. Over the past two years, I’ve seen him push through some of the BIGGEST challenges. There have been ups and downs, but he NEVER stops reaching for the top!!”
Lisa, Coordinator of Supports, Caring Support

Giving Back to the Community

Adam’s journey isn’t just about music—it’s about community. At his 50th birthday party, Adam and his ‘bush doof’ family raised $400 for Safelink Alliance, a local initiative that provides hot meals and essential support to the homeless community every Monday and Thursday night at Kibble Park, Gosford.

DJ Adam 'PsylentBob' collected donations at his recent 50th birthday 'bush doof', raising money for Safelink Alliance Central Coast.
