School's out for Harry

Written by Castle | Apr 30, 2021 2:41:00 AM

Harry admittedly wanted to leave school in year 8.

He was a self confessed 'rascal' and was heading down the wrong path.

Rather than in sitting in front of a computer, the Nelson Bay local was in his prime learning with his hands, on motorbikes, wood work and metal work.

With Castle's support getting his foot in the door with a short term job trial, Harry then worked part-time while finishing year 10, before securing a full time role and leaving school.

He is now learning valuable life skills, living with financial independence and working towards a career as a marine mechanic.

He wants to retire at 50 and travel Australia.

Castle supports young people transition into the workplace

School isn't for everyone.

Like Harry, some kids just learn better by getting hands-on in the workplace.

Castle can support young people with transition into the workforce. Our networks of supportive employers are ready to take on apprentices, interns, work experience and job trialists, with Castle supporting at every step. Visit our PATH Internship page for more information

Our NDIS School Leavers program can also prepare young people to enter the workplace, building skills, gaining valuable experience, and support in finding and keeping a job that suits them.
