What is the NDIS?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) facilitates support for people with a ‘permanent and significant’ disability so that they may live independently, participate socially and economically. The NDIS provides individualised funding for 'reasonable and necessary' supports to help people with a disability live full and meaningful lives.
Castle has been an NDIS registered service provider since it's trial in Newcastle in 2013. We will listen to you and work with you to make sure you get the most out of your NDIS journey. We offer teams that provide you with hands-on experience learning real-life skills. This gives you the opportunity to gain confidence in making friends, communicating with co-workers and confidence to live your life.
Our individual and group programs are designed to help you to learn how to live independently, do jobs around the home, read timetables and catch public transport, plan, prepare and cook meals and make smart decisions when shopping. Check out our Castello House, where our participants learn to life skills, how to manage a home and most importantly, how to cook delicious, nutritious meals.
We can prepare you for work through training, then help you find and keep a job. We offer ongoing support in your new role to make sure you're needs are respected. Our NDIS and Disability Employment Service (DES) team work together to find you work placements and employment with a supportive and inclusive employer.
Castle will support you to do more of what you want to do. We offer a variety of group activities, both indoors and outdoors and a monthly activity calendar with special events that will let you enjoy your hobbies and interests with others. Our passionate Ability Coaches can also help you achieve your personal goals through our individual sessions. Our former participant Jordan even published his own book with the support of his ability coach Emma! Check out his story on our YouTube
If you’re confused about the information in your plan, that’s ok – we can work through it with you. If you have ideas for the type of support you want, we will help you to make it happen. If you are struggling to get the support you need from your plan, we can connect you to great support workers and services.
