The start of Ella's next chapter after school
- Ella found her final year of school challenging and wasn’t sure what to do after finishing.
- Ella's school connected with Castle to help with her goal "to try out different jobs and see what I liked best"
- Now she’s gaining confidence, learning how to apply for jobs, and taking the first steps toward independent employment.

Ella preferred not to share her image, but was happy to share her experience of leaving school.
When Ella was in Year 11 at Warners Bay High School, she knew school wasn’t the right fit.
“My last year of school was hard. I didn’t really like it, and I knew I didn’t want to stay until Year 12.”
Living with Autism and ADHD, Ella found the school environment challenging and felt unsure about what would come next. She wanted more independence but didn’t yet know what kind of work would suit her.
As she prepared to leave school, Warners Bay High School connected her with Castle’s School Leavers' program.
At first, Ella’s biggest concern was finding a job that wouldn’t feel overwhelming. Previous work experience had been difficult, and she wasn’t confident navigating applications on her own. Rather than rushing into something, she chose to take a short break after finishing school.
“Ella has been willing to explore different types of work and try new things, even when it felt challenging. It’s been great to see her confidence grow as she learns practical job skills and figures out what she enjoys.”
- Caleb, Castle ESO
Supported by Employment Success Officer Caleb, Ella began exploring different types of work and building practical job-seeking skills. She developed a resume, learned how to apply for jobs online, and practised approaching businesses professionally.

“Castle has helped me figure out what kind of job I want and what I’m good at. It’s also made me more confident talking to people professionally.”
- Ella
Ella preferred not to share her image, but she was happy to share her experience in the hope it might help other young people who feel unsure about life after school.
"I’d totally recommend that students like me, who aren’t sure what they wanted to do after school, or need help figuring out career stuff. "
For Ella, this is just the beginning, a step toward independence, confidence and finding work that feels like the right fit.
